After two years, Tecuen has closed its doors.
We won't pretend this is easy to write. This little shop on Highway 71 was something we built with our own hands and gave everything we had. Letting it go hurts. But the hardest part isn't losing the business, it's losing the everyday of it. The door chiming. The regulars we knew by name before they reached the counter. The kids who couldn't decide between mango and fresa and always ended up with both.
Tecuen means "good honey." That's what we hoped to leave with every person who walked in, and we hope, at least sometimes, we did.
To our regulars, you were the reason. The ones who came every week, who brought a friend, whose "usual" we knew, who asked how the family was doing and actually waited for the answer. You turned a shop into a place. You made a hard business feel like a good life. We will miss you more than we know how to say.
To Blanca, Esme, Laura, Jenny, and everyone who ever wore our apron, you gave this place its warmth. You showed up early, stayed late, and treated our customers like your own. Whatever Tecuen was, you made it. Thank you for carrying it with us.
To Bastrop, thank you for making room for us. Small towns don't owe new businesses anything, and you gave us two years of your mornings and your afternoons anyway. That's a gift.
We don't know exactly what's next, but this isn't a name we're ready to put away. If the day comes that we can serve you again, we will.
